PAYMENT OPTIONS

At Veterinary Specialist Services, we understand that there's never a good time for serious illness or injuries to occur and that household financial planning can affect treatment decisions.

We offer a variety of payment options to help families get the best care for their pets and work with a range of partners to provide the most cost effective solutions for our clients.

Outpatient services accounts, like consultations or blood tests, are settled at the end of the appointment. For patients admitted to hospital for diagnostic investigation, in-hospital medical treatment or surgery, we require a deposit on admission and settle the account at the time of discharge.

We can settle accounts by a variety of methods, which include:

Payment by EFTPOS, credit card, cash payment, Simplify or bank transfer.

GapOnly™: A new and affordable option for many clients, GapOnly™reviews and calculates your insurance claim while you’re still at our clinic. You simply pay the gap (the difference between our invoice and the pet insurance claim benefit under your policy) and go. You can also organise the paperwork to be processed ahead of time with a pre-approval. Find out more about GapOnly™here.

Direct Claim: Some insurers offer a ‘direct claim’ where the insurer pays the veterinary practice directly.

For other insurance products, we offer online claim management where we submit the paperwork electronically on your behalf to expedite the process.

Finance products and payment plans: These products allow families to spread the cost over time. We currently work with Humm and VetPay. Different products suit different family circumstances and we’re happy to assist you in understanding the benefits and differences of each in person or over the phone.

At VSS, we understand that cost constraints can sometimes determine the level of care your pet receives. For those times we are pleased to let you know we can offer a convenient payment plan through external finance companies. This means you can choose the best level of care for your pet now, when they need it, and spread the cost out over time.

We want to help you make the decisions about your pet's specialist treatment with the knowledge there is an affordable option.

Here’s how our payment plans work:

We consult with you and your pet

We identify the treatment required and provide you with a cost estimate

We seek approval for a balance payment up to the amount you need

You pay a minimum agreed payment based on our estimate, generally between 10%-20% of the estimate

We complete your pet's treatment

You commence a fortnightly 0% interest repayment plan once your pet has been discharged
