Update on border crossing between Queensland and New South Wales with relation to animal care

Posted by VSS on 25 March 2020

To our valued clients and colleagues,

The Queensland Government today announced changes to border control between Queensland and adjacent states and territories.  The border will be closed to non essential travel however there are a number of exemptions which include work, compassionate and medical grounds.  We are awaiting clarification around these definitions from the Police and QLD Health.

Advice we have received so far indicates that it is expected that travel for the purpose of animal health care will be allowed.  VSS and the AES are ready to help with cases from Northern NSW.  VSS will provide a letter to clients who have booked an appointment confirming the nature of their visit to aid them in any interactions crossing the border.  We will communicate further any clarification that we receive on this issue.

Thank you for your ongoing support we look forward to caring for your pets and patients as we always do.
