People & Culture Manager

The Opportunity

Most if not all Veterinary practices have become significantly busier over the last 2 years. We have not been immune to this and are adapting our teams and processes with the aim of delivering the excellent patient care we are known for, while trying to provide our team with the working environment that is sustainable for them. This is a big challenge, and we need the right people to help us achieve this.

As an integral member of the leadership team, the People and Culture Manager is responsible for collaborating and partnering with the senior leadership team and wider business to provide operational and strategic human resources support advice and continuous improvement of HR services. Reporting to the Managing Partner, the People & Culture Manager will be supported by a HR Associate.

The ideal candidate is a true generalist with broad HR business partnering experience, a passion for people and enjoys contributing at both hands-on and strategic levels. The position involves various responsibilities and requires flexibility, regular travel between our hospital sites and a willingness to jump in where needed.

What we are looking for

  • A person who has proven experience in 

    • equipping business leaders with appropriate tools and knowledge to effectively manage and develop their people and provide proactive guidance and counsel on people-related issues.

    • managing and resolving employee relations issues.

  • A person who has exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to earn trust, credibility and willingness to have difficult conversations in a professional and diplomatic manner.

  • A person who is genuinely adaptable and has experience in change and project management with a process improvement focus - we’ve had to change a whole lot of things over the last 2 years and foresee ongoing change and adaptation to improve our workplace.

About Us

Veterinary Specialist Services is an established Small Animal referral hospital group located in Southeast Queensland.  We have two hospitals in Brisbane located at Underwood and Jindalee and a third one at Carrara on the Gold Coast.
