Specialist Small Animal Surgeon

Gordon Corfield graduated in 1996 from the University of Queensland. He started out in dairy practice in Victoria before moving to small animal medicine in 1998, working in Brisbane, England and Sydney.

He commenced his residency in small animal surgery at Murdoch University in Perth in 2003 completing it in 2005, then moving to Rivergum Referral Services. He was awarded his Fellowship in small animal surgery and became a registered specialist 2008. In 2008 he moved back to the Gold Coast and has been working at Veterinary Specialist Services ever since. He became a director of VSS in 2013. Gordon is also the current head of the small animal surgery chapter examination committee.

He is passionate about providing quality medical care of our pets and promoting a team based approach to veterinary medicine. "Advances in surgical and medical techniques has provided more diagnostic and treatment options for our pets and often a speedier and more complete recovery. This is a very exciting time to be in our profession. Gordon is actively promoting a 'hip clinic' and believes, as shown in people, that hip replacements result in a dramatic improvement in function and quality of life for the appropriate candidates. Orthopaedic and spinal surgery are a particular passion for Gordon, however he enjoys all aspects of small animal surgery and a very busy case load.

Dr. Corfield aims to make a difference to the lives of animals and to their families. He is incredibly passionate about the human and pet bond which is a special synergistic relationship, and he is proud to have the unique opportunity to maintain or restore this in a very positive way.

When Dr. Corfield isn't tending to our furry friends, he enjoys mountain bike riding, skiing and spending time with his own fur babies, Tran and Lily, both adorable Labradors.
