DR JOSH KING

BVSc FANZCVS

Specialist Small Animal Internal Medicine

Dr. Joshua King graduated from the University of Queensland with first class honours in 2004.  Upon graduation, he spent four years working in a busy small animal practice where he did his fair share of dentals, speys, castrations and even orthopaedics. During this time, he decided that these were dark arts and that small animal medicine was definitely where his interests lay.

Dr. King then went on to spend a year with Animal Emergency Services doing emergency practice before moving on to a Clinical Academic position at the University of Queensland for three years.   This position was primarily clinical in nature but also had a heavy emphasis on the teaching and development of future veterinarians and veterinary technicians.  During this time he also obtained membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Medicine.

In December 2013, Dr. King joined the Veterinary Specialist Services team to pursue his goal of completing specialist training in Small Animal Medicine, particularly enjoying endocrinology and infectious disease.

When not at work, Dr. King enjoys most sports, cricket in particular, and relishes the opportunity to travel. At home he has an obstinate but very well loved, older Labrador, JJ, and a beautiful wife and son, Phillipa and Declan. He also co-habitates with his wife's cat, Axel, with whom he has an uncomfortable truce.

Veterinary Specialist Services proudly supports the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors, particularly the treatment, care and research of the Australian Koala Community.
