The role:
An exciting and niche opportunity has come about for a reliable, hardworking, and dedicated qualified Veterinary Nurse to apply for a part-time role as a Cardiology Veterinary Nurse with the Veterinary Cardiologists Australia team at Veterinary Specialist Services Carrara. The available position offers 25.5 to 34 hours per week across 4 days, including but not limited to:
Undertake general nursing tasks, animal pathology and emergency care relating to Cardiac disease.
Perform and assist in Cardiology procedures when required, including, but not limited to, sedation protocols, Doppler Blood Pressure monitoring, Radiology, Venepuncture and restraint for Echocardiography and ECG’s.
Setting up and assisting with Cardiac related procedures such as, but not limited to Thoracocentesis, Pericardiocentesis and Abdominocentesis.
Deliver outstanding care to all patients and clients throughout the day.
Maintain the flow of the day, with case prioritising, in conjunction with Cardiologists.
Application and removal of 24-hour ECG monitor systems
The added option of eventually assisting with fluoroscopy, in Cardiac interventional surgical procedures if interested.
Managing medication requests and phone messages as needed throughout the day.
Completing patient recheck reminders on EzyVet

Who you are:
A nurse with a Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing or a Veterinary Technologist degree with a keen interest in learning about cardiology.
A nurse with a minimum of 2-3 years nursing experience in a busy general practice &/or emergency/referral hospital.
A nurse who can demonstrate excellent general handling skills of canine and feline patients.
A nurse who is competent in drug calculations and administration along with venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
A team player with a strong work ethic willing to support your fellow colleagues.
Skilled in problem-solving and decision making.
A multi-tasker who can navigate within a busy, multidisciplinary workplace.
An organised nurse with high attention to detail.
