Common Brisbane Pet Emergencies We Treat

Our Brisbane teams are highly experienced in treating conditions unique to the South East Queensland climate and suburban environment:

Cane Toad & Snake Bites

High-incidence emergencies across Brisbane and the Ipswich corridor. We maintain full stocks of anti-venom and rapid decontamination protocols.

Accidents & Road Trauma

Both hospitals are located near major arterials (M1 and Centenary Hwy) for immediate access following motor vehicle accidents or falls.

Difficulty Breathing & Collapse

Immediate oxygen therapy and cardiac support for pets experiencing sudden respiratory distress.

Poisoning & Foreign Objects

Emergency intervention for ingested baits, household toxins, or "curious" ingestions of toys or clothing.

Seizures & Neurological Issues

Rapid stabilisation for cluster seizures and sudden onset neurological distress.

Labour Complications (Whelping)

24/7 support for difficult births, including emergency C-sections and neonatal care.

Paralysis Ticks

Comprehensive care for pets affected by ticks, including advanced ventilation support for severe cases.

Advanced equipment for emergency veterinary care in Brisbane

Advanced Emergency Facilities

Regardless of which Brisbane location you visit, your pet will have access to:

  • Immediate Diagnostics: On-site CT, high-definition ultrasound, and digital X-ray for rapid answers.

  • Emergency Surgery: Fully equipped theatres ready for trauma, bloat (GDV), and emergency abdominal surgery.

  • ICU Ward: 24/7 intensive care with advanced oxygen therapy and continuous monitoring.

Costs, Insurance & After-Care

Flexible payment options and Insurance for vet care

Payment & Insurance

Don’t delay urgent care due to financial concerns. We do have flexible payment options, and many insurance policies cover emergencies, and we provide all necessary clinical notes for your claims. See some of our plans and insurance options here. Please speak with our team upon arrival.

What to expect after your vet visit

After Your Visit

Upon discharge, you will receive clear home-care instructions and specific warning signs to monitor during your pet's recovery. We work closely with your family veterinarian, providing them with consistent updates to ensure a smooth transition back to their regular care. Should your pet require further monitoring or specialist treatment, we will discuss all available options with you and coordinate that transition internally within the VSS network; if required, we can also admit your pet for extended treatment and 24/7 monitoring in our intensive care unit.
