How our veterinary surgery team can help you

VSS offer surgery for a wide range of emergencies, injuries, and conditions. Some of the common conditions we treat and assess are:

  • Management (surgical and non surgical) of the full range of surgical conditions including:
    • Joint problems
    • Spinal and other neurosurgical problems
    • Bone fractures
    • Abdominal surgery
    • Urinary tract surgery
    • Thoracic and cardiac surgery
    • Head and neck surgery, including brachycephalic airway surgery
    • Gastrointestinal and liver surgery
    • Skin and reconstructive surgery
  • Lameness assessment - identify the cause of a limp if it is difficult to diagnose
  • Management of patients with medical comorbidities and who need surgery e.g. concurrent heart problems or medical disorder

Many pet owners are concerned about veterinary procedures that require an anaesthetic on their dog or cat. The risks of anesthesia can be greatly minimised with correct planning prior to the procedure, careful monitoring while the dog or cat is anaesthetised, and diligent aftercare.

Every pet is different and anesthesia protocols are customised to meet the needs of each individual animal. For example, a senior pet, or one with a health problem, would probably require a different anesthesia protocol than a young, healthy dog or cat.

We aim to have our patients eating well and comfortable by the time of discharge.
