24-Hour Emergency and In-Hospital Care

VSS Jindalee provides 24-hour emergency care in partnership with Animal Emergency Service, giving pet owners access to urgent veterinary support day and night.

For pets admitted to the hospital, our team provides careful monitoring, treatment and communication throughout their stay. Hospitalised patients may be supported by emergency veterinarians, specialist clinicians, experienced nurses and, where required, multiple departments working together.

This level of care is particularly important for pets recovering from surgery, pets requiring advanced diagnostics, or patients with more complex medical needs.

If your pet is experiencing an emergency, please come straight in or call ahead where possible so the team can prepare for your arrival.

Specialist Services and Multidisciplinary Care at VSS Jindalee

VSS Jindalee offers a broad range of specialist and referral services, supported by experienced clinicians, advanced hospital facilities and a growing multidisciplinary team.

Services available at Jindalee include:

  • Small Animal Surgery
  • Internal Medicine
  • Ophthalmology
  • Emergency and Critical Care
  • Dentistry (through Advanced Animal Dentistry)
  • Brachycephalic Care Unit (BCU)
  • Anaesthesia
  • Dermatology
  • Capped-price TPLO and patella surgery
  • Laparoscopic Desexing & Laparoscopic Spay + Gastropexy

One of the key strengths of VSS Jindalee is the ability for multiple teams to work together on complex cases. This is particularly valuable when a pet’s condition involves more than one area of care, such as surgery combined with ophthalmology, dentistry, anaesthesia, internal medicine or emergency support.

For example, some patients may need surgery but also require advanced anaesthetic planning, eye assessment, dental input or internal medicine support before, during or after the procedure. Having these services available within the one hospital allows the team to consider the full picture and create a more coordinated treatment plan.

For referring vets, this means patients can be referred to a hospital where different departments can collaborate when needed. For pet owners, it means your pet’s care is considered from several angles, which can be especially reassuring when a case is complicated.

Our goal is to provide thoughtful, coordinated care, so your pet’s treatment plan is clear, considered and supported by the right team.

Brachycephalic Care Unit at Jindalee

Brachycephalic Care Unit at Jindalee

VSS Jindalee is home to the Brachycephalic Care Unit, supporting brachycephalic breeds such as French Bulldogs, Pugs, British Bulldogs, Boston Terriers and other flat-faced breeds.

Brachycephalic pets can have complex airway, breathing, dental, eye, skin and surgical needs. At Jindalee, these patients can be supported by a multidisciplinary team, including surgery, anaesthesia, ophthalmology, dentistry and emergency care.

This collaborative approach is especially valuable for brachycephalic pets because their conditions often overlap. A breathing issue may also involve anaesthetic considerations, dental concerns, eye problems or recovery planning. By having multiple teams available, we can provide a more complete approach to diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care.

Owner Assisted Recovery

Owner Assisted Recovery

At VSS Jindalee, we understand that recovery is not only clinical. It is also emotional, especially for pets who are more comfortable when their family is nearby.

Where appropriate, our team may involve owners as part of the recovery journey. This can be particularly helpful for some post-operative patients, anxious pets or animals that respond well to calm reassurance from familiar people.

Every patient is different, so visits and owner involvement are guided by what is safest and most beneficial for the pet. Our team will always consider your pet’s comfort, treatment needs and recovery plan when discussing visitation or recovery support.

This family-centred approach is an important part of the care we provide at Jindalee. It helps owners feel informed and involved, while giving pets comfort during what can be a stressful time.

Supporting Referring Vets

Supporting Referring Vets

VSS Jindalee works closely with referring veterinarians to provide smooth referral pathways, clear communication and timely updates.

Our Vet Portal allows referring clinics to:

  • Refer to our team of specialists
  • Access patient clinical records
  • View pathology and imaging results
  • Receive updates throughout the treatment process
  • Communicate with the VSS team.

We aim to support local veterinarians, not replace them. Our role is to provide specialist input, advanced diagnostics, emergency support and complex case care when needed, then work with the referring vet to help manage the patient’s ongoing treatment and recovery.

For urgent cases or case discussions, referring vets can contact our team directly for guidance around referral pathways, triage and next steps.

Pet owners can contact our Client Care Team or make a booking online.
