DR ELISA DENNIS
BVSc (Hons) MANZCVS
Dermatology Resident
Dr Elisa studied veterinary science at the University of Queensland, graduating with Honours in 2018. She then returned to her hometown of Brisbane to find her feet in small animal general practice, where she quickly developed a passion for providing high-standard medical care to patients with chronic conditions, particularly dermatologic concerns.?
In 2021, Elisa returned to the University of Queensland to work in the Small Animal Hospital and continue developing her veterinary skills in a specialist hospital environment. She spent time working in emergency practice before joining the primary care team, where she worked for several years in a dual clinical and academic role. During this time she developed a passion for teaching and had the opportunity to support veterinary students throughout their training - delivering lectures, supervising clinical placement, and mentoring new graduates. She particularly enjoyed helping students and early-career veterinarians build confidence in managing dermatologic cases in general practice.?
Elisa became a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) by examination in Small Animal Veterinary Practice in 2024, and has since served as an examiner for the College in the same chapter.? In 2025, she commenced her residency in veterinary dermatology with Animal Dermatology Specialist, mentored by Dr Evie Knight.
