Jason originally grew up in Singapore and graduated from the University of Sydney in 2014 with first class honours and the University Medal. Upon graduation, he started his career in small animal general practice in coastal South Australia before moving to Queensland in 2016, where he completed his rotating and surgical internship with the Veterinary Specialist Services team in Gold Coast and Brisbane.
Jason attained Membership to the Small Animal Surgery chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2018 and was also awarded the Paul Gotis-Graham Award for excellence in veterinary surgery. In the same year, he returned to his alma mater to undertake his surgery residency and a double Masters degree. Jason has published and been involved in several scientific research across different aspects of surgery, especially in fracture biomechanics. Upon completion of his training, Jason continued to work as a clinical registrar at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney. During his time back at the university, Jason cultivated his passion for teaching and enjoys playing a role in educating future generations of veterinarians.
In 2022, Jason successfully passed his specialist board examinations and was conferred as a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons. Jason enjoys all areas of veterinary surgery, with particular interests in oncologic and soft tissue reconstruction surgery, orthopaedics and employing minimally invasive techniques. Outside of work, Jason is an ardent supporter of Arsenal Football Club and is accompanied by his fluffy smoochy cat, Tofu and mischievous dog, Popcorn. He is excited and thrilled to return back to the Sunshine State and work with the VSS team again.
